EF Sung Mass — Second Sunday of Lent (Feb. 25, 2018)

Celebrate with us the Second Sunday of Lent with an Extraordinary Form Missa cantata (Sung Mass) this Sunday, February 25, 2018, at the Adoration Chapel of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish (Capitol Parish) church along N. Escario Street, Cebu City.

The Holy Sacrifice will be sung by Msgr. Joseph Tan, media liaison of the Archdiocese of Cebu.  He will be assisted in music by the Schola Gregoriana of Cebu.

Starting at 3:15 p.m., the Society will pray in Latin the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Mass will follow right after the Rosary.  Immediately after the Mass, we shall be chanting-praying in English the Office of Vespers of the Second Sunday of Lent in the Ordinary Form.  The Office of Vespers, also known as Evening Prayer, forms part of the Divine Office, which is the Church’s official liturgical prayer to sanctify the different hours of the day.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity for personal and collective sanctification, especially this Lent, through the praying of the Divine Office.

Also, to be worthy to receive our Lord in Holy Communion, please ensure that you are in the state of grace and free from any bondage to sin.  Avail yourself of God’s mercy through the Sacrament of Penance beforehand.

While many Filipinos will be commemorating this Sunday the “freedom” that they have “recovered” through the EDSA Revolution, we, as Roman Catholic Christians, strive to be free from the bondage of the ultimate tyrant — sin.  Only this freedom, which we receive through our Lord Jesus Christ, is the real, true freedom there is.  And, only when we are truly free in this way, by the grace of our Lord, can we be truly effective agents of change in our families, our neighborhoods, and our society.

So, come to the Traditional Latin Mass! Avail yourselves of the Sacraments and the means of sanctification (especially the Divine Office), and experience the liberating power of our loving Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, who alone is true King.
