The Church’s liturgical year begins anew this coming Sunday as the Roman Catholic Church around the world celebrates the First Sunday of Advent. The Cebuano Summorum Pontificum Society invites you to assist (that is, to pray and worship with us) at the Extraordinary Form Sung Mass (Traditional Latin Mass) for this first day of the liturgical year.
The Holy Sacrifice will be offered at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at the Adoration Chapel of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish (Capitol Parish) Church along N. Escario Street, Cebu City.
Msgr. Joseph Tan, media liaison of the Archdiocese of Cebu, will sing the Holy Mass and will be assisted in music by the Schola Gregoriana of Cebu.
Before Mass, we will pray the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Latin, starting at 3:15 p.m. After the Rosary, we will pray in English the Office of None (Mid-Afternoon Prayer) of the Ordinary Form Divine Office (a.k.a. the Liturgy of the Hours).
Please bring your rosaries and your copies of the Liturgy of the Hours. Also make sure that you are in a state of grace so that you can worthily receive Holy Communion. Go to Confession before coming to Mass.
Advent is a time of preparation for our commemoration of the Lord’s Birth, His first coming on that first Christmas Day. It is also a preparation and a looking-forward with hope to His Second Coming at the end of time. Join us in preparing for the glorious coming of the Lord. Bring your friends and family.
