EF Sung Mass — Last Sunday After Pentecost (Nov. 26, 2017)

The advent of the season of Advent is imminent, as the final days of the Church’s liturgical year arrive this Sunday with the Last Sunday After Pentecost.

Pray and sing with us the Extraordinary Form Sung Mass (Missa cantata) of this last Sunday before Advent at 4 p.m. this Sunday, November 26, 2017, at the Adoration Chapel of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish (Capitol Parish) Church along N. Escario Street, Cebu City.

The Holy Sacrifice will be offered and sung by Msgr. Joseph Tan, the media liaison of our Archdiocese. The Schola Gregoriana of Cebu will be assisting him in music.

Please come early so you can join us in praying in Latin the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  We will begin the Rosary at 3:15 p.m.

Immediately after the Rosary, we will be chanting (also in Latin and in Gregorian chant) the Office of None (Mid-Afternoon Prayer) of the Ordinary Form Divine Office, which is the Church’s official liturgical prayer for marking the time of day and sanctifying each day.  The Divine Office is also known as the Liturgy of the Hours.

We encourage you to become one with our Lord through your reception of Holy Communion and prepare for it accordingly.  For this, ensure that you are in the state of grace; that is, go to Confession beforehand (see Canon 916).  If you are not yet elderly (i.e., at least 60 years old), not sick or infirm, or not taking care of a sick or elderly person, remember to also observe the one-hour Eucharistic Fast, which means no food or drink (except water and medicine) should be taken at least one hour before actually receiving Holy Communion (see Canon 919).

See you this Sunday.  Spread the word, and invite your family and friends.
