In celebration of the Sixteenth Sunday After Pentecost, the Cebuano Summorum Pontificum Society will be offering a Missa cantata (Sung Mass) in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite at 4:00 P.M. this Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Adoration Chapel of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish Church (Capitol Parish) along N. Escario Street, Cebu City.
Cebu archdiocesan media liaison officer Msgr. Joseph Tan will sing the Mass and offer the Holy Sacrifice. He will be assisted by the Schola Gregoriana of Cebu.
The Extraordinary Form of the Mass is the form of the Mass that has been celebrated widely throughout the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church for centuries prior to the promulgation of the New Order of Mass by Pope Paul VI a few years after the Second Vatican Council. Many people refer to it as the Traditional Latin Mass or the Tridentine Mass. This form of the Mass was never revoked or abrogated, so it is still in full vigor. Pope Benedict XVI decreed in 2007 that all priests of the Latin Rite may freely celebrate this form of the Mass.
Join us in worship this Sunday and experience the ancient Mass that has made so many saints throughout the years. Invite your friends and family.
Remember to go to Confession beforehand so you can worthily receive our Lord in Holy Communion.
