Extraordinary Form Mass on Trinity Sunday

The Cebuano Summorum Pontificum Society invites all faithful Roman Catholics in the Archdiocese of Cebu to an Extraordinary Form Mass (a.k.a. Traditional Latin Mass) to be offered at 4:00 P.M. on June 11, 2017 (Sunday) at the Adoration Chapel of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish Church (Capitol Parish Church) along N. Escario Street, Cebu City.

On the said day, the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.  A Missa lecta (read Mass or recited Mass) will be offered by Msgr. Joseph Tan, media liaison officer of the Archdiocese of Cebu, according to the Roman Missal promulgated by Pope Saint John XXIII in 1962 and the provisions of Pope Benedict XVI’s motu proprio apostolic letter Summorum Pontificum.

Monsignor Tan has committed himself to learning and offering the Extraordinary Form Mass. This Mass will be his first public celebration of this ancient Liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church.  He will also be celebrating the 26th anniversary of his priestly ordination on that day.  So, it is a special day for him and for Mother Church.  We ask all of you to pray for him, for more priestly vocations, and for more bishops and priests to learn, love, and offer the Extraordinary Form Mass.

Apart from worshiping the Most Holy Trinity — God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — we also wish to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in reparation for the profanation and sacrileges against the Most Holy Trinity committed in Marawi City and in many other places around the world (including our very own province, Cebu).

Please wear your Sunday’s best clothes.  Remember to bring your hand missals, if you have one, so that you can follow along with the prayers.  The Society will also be providing a limited number of copies of missalettes.  Females are encouraged, although not required, to wear mantillas or head veils.

Bring your friends and family.  Share this post on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks.  See you on Sunday.
