Extraordinary Form Mass for the 4th Sunday of Advent

The Cebuano Summorum Pontificum Society invites all faithful Roman Catholics in Cebu to pray the Extraordinary Form Mass of the Fourth Sunday of Advent.  This will be held at 8:30 A.M. on December 18, 2016 (Sunday), at the Community of Saint John Center on V. Rama Avenue, Cebu City.

Liturgical catechesis will be given before Mass.  Make sure that you can attend it.  The Mass itself will be offered using the Missale Romanum (Roman Missal) promulgated by Pope Saint John XXIII in 1962 and in accordance with the requirements of Pope Benedict XVI’s motu proprio Apostolic Letter Summorum Pontificum and the Instruction Universæ Ecclesiæ.

The Schola Gregoriana of Cebu will be providing the music.  Volunteer servers of the Cebuano Summorum Pontificum Society will be serving at the altar.

Mass and chant guides will also be provided.  You may also bring your hand missal, if you have one.

IMPORTANT NOTE for those who will be attending an Extraordinary Form Mass (Traditional Latin Mass) for the first time: the Mass will be in Latin (but the readings may be proclaimed in the vernacular), the homily will be in English, only Gregorian chants will be sung, and the celebrant will be turning towards God (i.e., facing towards the altar).

For clergy who wish to attend, you may assist in choro (“in choir,” that is, as liturgical choir but not necessarily as chanters in the Schola).  Required vesture for clergy in choro is cassock, surplice, and biretta.  For religious whose order has a recognized habit, you may wear your recognized habit without a surplice.

Please invite your friends and family.

Please ensure that you are in the state of grace so that you can receive Holy Communion.  That is, go to Confession!

Although not required, females are encouraged to wear head veils.
